doing what i can with what i've got
So, you know my little problem? The embarrassment that currently is my scalp and hair? The grossness that makes it painful for me to leave the house? The abomination of yuck that I will never get used to? Yeah. Okay, let's not really talk about it. Let's talk about what I'm trying to do to fix this problem. After scouring the stores for some clarifying/build-up reducing/miracle shampoo, this was the best I could find. Correction: the was the ONLY thing in the store that even mentioned the words cleaning or build-up. The. Only. One. Because this only happens to men? Because they use more product? Because they suffer from pregnancy hormones? Whatever. An any case, it seems to be helping. Not curing, sadly, but helping. The best feature about this shampoo? It "Has A Fresh Clean Masculine Scent." I have no where to go but up.

But men can smell oh so good. So is it one of those kinds of smells? Just wear lots of perfume on top, help you rock that "manly" scent!
So if I catch a whiff of that scent that seems to be characterized by Old Spice - and is in every "manley" product - at church, it's you?
Have you looked into a professional line? I like using Pureology, and Biolage. They both have clarifying shampoo's and conditioners and they smell good. If you need help locating some I would be more then happy to help. Hope this is helpful.
Try Dawn dish washing soap. I'm serious, a hairdresser that was my friend once told me never to waste money on clarifying shampoo...because it accomplished the same thing. If you're not willing to do that, I have some organic stuff (I bought out the whole shelf when it was 1/2 price clearance at Target). I'd be happy to pour you a container full. I believe lemon juice also works will, and will bring out your natural highlights...you do have natural highlight, don't you! One I've never tried, but sure, why not: baking soda or rubbing alcohol at the roots on a particularly oily day. It's supposed to help absorb, only you don't wash it out...not sure about that one. Desperate times...Let me know if you want some of that shampoo.
My little sister Amy is having the same problem. Club Soda helps. I am a hair dresser so I go the professional route...try Paul Mitchell Shampoo 2 and 3 together...that should fix it!
