2,387 miles

We drove from Kansas back to Utah all through Saturday night. My driving shift ended at 9:30 p.m. and I tried, without much success, to sleep in the back of the car while Somebody drove. At 11:30 p.m. I gave up trying to sleep in the back and moved into the front passenger seat. I expected to only have another hour of sleeping time before it was my turn to drive again, and was finally able to drift off to sleep.

I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and was shocked to realize that Somebody had been driving for six hours through the night. Without any snacks (he frowns upon my stash of travels goodies) and without any books on cd. I asked him how he had been able to stay awake for that long during the night.

His response:

"I knew you were having a hard time sleeping, so when you finally fell asleep I wanted you to be able to keep sleeping. And I knew that if I was driving, you could be sleeping. So, I just kept on driving. It was love. The power of love kept me awake. And your snoring."
